So It All Was A LIe

Another person falls victim to #Catfish...

Manti Te'o became prey to an individual who obviously had to much time on their hands...

#Catfish has been going on long before there was social media. It came it the form of mail order brides, radio personalities, being set up over the phone and then meeting the person only to see a troll.

The thing about this situation is the fact that it ended up being a man.0_o, and that man went on Dr.Phil to explain his side of the situation. Trumping Te'o appearance on Katie Couric's show earlier this week.

Also how the University he attends capitalized on the whole thing even though they allegedly knew it was a hoax. Manti himself went along with the sham when being interviewed by ESPN prior to the Heisman Trophy ceremony. Everyone involved knew it was a lie and still went along with the deception.

It seems to me everyone was willing to go along with this sham as long as it worked in their favor. No one is perfect however, it comes a point in time when we have to rise above the misery of human nature.

For an individual to be so lonely, desperate, mean to create a fake identity to cause so much pain and grief escapes me. Also for another individual to be so prey like that they weren't willing to dig a little deeper and insure what they are seeing is true. Is completely beyond me.

In these days and times of social media, Internet and information sharing. It is easy to find out about almost anyone. Plus with nearly everyone being connected to some form of social media. It is easy to con someone, but it is just as easy to find out if that someone is a con.

You have to be more careful folks.
