I do not have the skill to spend on high end.
Is the main reason I do not spend money on Mac, Makeup Forever, Laura Mercier, etc. My theory is why spend money to look like a clown.
When I first decided to make a change in my life and step up my game. One thing I really wanted to do is improve my knowledge, and skill in makeup. I always loved it but, was lost, overwhelmed and scared when it came down to it. So last year I took the leap of faith and started to learn and implement makeup in my beauty regimen.
Which brings me to why I buy beauty supply store and drug store makeup. When I decided to practice makeup spending a whole lot of money on something I had little to no knowledge about was out of the question. There was no one around me who had a good makeup stash so off to the drug store I went. The first thing I bought was a cheap 64 color
eye shadow palette (Markwinds) and brush set think I spent no more than $10 and went to practice. The first attempts where clown like and tragic to say the least. I looked a right mess, but I kept on practicing and watching YouTubers like lilpumkinpie05, bronzegoddess01, allthingsfabulous101, beautybyjj, DestinyGodley, prettygrylangie, thomasadrianna, to name a few.
These ladies know their makeup and use high end, drug store, and beauty supply store makeup and tools. I learned from that and took that and applied to my skin tone, shape, and quality. It has not been all good the first 6-7 months I would only practice in the house and still wear only mascara and lip gloss when I left the house. As my skill got better and I felt more comfortable with makeup I started wearing it out the house.
Will I ever buy high end makeup?
Yes, when my skill and knowledge improves and as I grow more comfortable wearing some form of makeup on a regular basis. I will gladly walk into Sephora, Ulta, or a department store armed with knowledge.
But, for now I will continue to buy inexpensive makeup it's what my wallet and myself are comfortable with. This was Afrikah's Perspective
Stay Blessed
