Beginner Beat| Practice Sessions | Becoming My own MUA

You know how it goes in order to have consistent growth things must change.

If you aren't following +JamaicanMakeUpArtist    on YouTube you need to. She my friend, well in my mind that is. I have watched her for years on YouTube and her growth has been amazing to say the least.  She also is the one who inspired the makeup look that you see in this blog.   Following the tips and tricks I learned from her and +Buntricia Bastian  I feel as though I slayed this practice session.

Why and How you may ask

Let this beginner explain how I got it done.

First, thing I have changed is applying primer to face to fill in all my frown and laugh lines.  Placing primer on my face has been one of the best things I have ever done for my "foundation  routine". It helps build up those areas so the makeup does not settle in those fine lines and create creases in your makeup application.  Great beginner friendly face primers products are Miliani, NYX, Rimmel,Loreal,Revlon, etc.

The face primer I used with this practice
session was Rimmel's Stay Matte Primer, it's creamy and leaves your skin with a smooth,
matte finish. Perfect for applying your makeup products.

The next thing that I changed was the application of my foundation whether its a tinted moisturizer or full foundation. Buntricia explained how to properly apply your foundation to have that second skin finish (Link to video is below).  I tweaked her process a little since I am becoming a MUA for myself alone.

For this practice session I used Black Radiance BB Cream (Brown Sugar).  Using the tips from Buntricia I was able to create the "second skin" appearance that you see pictured to the right.  Black Radiance BB Cream is very light weight and beginner beat friendly.  For highlight I used two products LA Girls Pro Conceal(warm honey), and Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer(warm Biege) and blended for the Gods. I set my entire face with LA Colors Mineral Pressed Powder(Ebony). For my glow I used CoverGirl's TruBlend Minerals(440) on my cheek bones, cupids bow,and on top of my arch on my eyebrows; the same places in which I applied my highlight. For my cheeks I used NYX blush (cinnamon) which is gorgeous on my skin, it warms my skin without a lot of color.  For contour I used Black Radiance Pressed Powder (Mahogany) down the sides of my nose, temples, and under my cheek bone. To finish out my look so its super matte, I love to use NYC Smooth Skin Loose Powder (Translucent). I do this to ensure that everything is blended and to sheer out any harshness with any of my highlight, contour, or blush.

Onto the eyes, to achieve this look I first started out with my eyebrows.

I use ELF's brow kit (drk. brown) to fill in any sparse spaces and as well as to tame the curly mane which are my brows. To define them I used everyone's favorite LA Girls ProConceal (espresso)I prefer to use a concealer closer to my skin tone for a more natural brow shape and look.

I like to work from the top down to create a blended gradient affect with my eyeshadow. Next for my brow bone highlight I used a peach color eyeshadow from ELF's Beauty Book(pictured above). For a eyeshadow primer I used Black Radiance color correctors eyelid primer; for an eyeshadow base I used Black Radiance gel liner (indigo) on my mobile lid and used a dark brown eyeshadow from ELF's Beauty Book to blend out any harsh lines. Using another ELF product (Marble 100 palette)I used a blue of the same hue of the gel liner and packed that on. For dimension I used the

lighter purple eyeshadow from WetandWild color icon 6-color palette (pictured above)as well as that beautiful indigo/drk. blue eyeshadow from ELF's Beauty Book. For my transition color I used my blush color from NYX this blended so nicely and did not compete with the drama going on with my eyelid. That pop of gold color is from a ELF's marble palette, just to add a bit of shimmer. I also lined the inner and outer eyelid with a black kohl liner. For mascara I used Revlon's XXL Pro(black) and WetnWild length(black), since I do not know how to apply false lashes.

Now for as for that lip combination, I decided to go for

a more nude pairing with the eye color look. I did not want to have a lot going on with my look. Even though this is a practice session, I still need to be aware of what I am doing. So when the time comes I am not looking TRAGIC.
On my lips I went with a Jordana matte lipstick (cafe), this color is the perfect peach nude for my skin tone. On top I placed a little of Rimmel's moisture renew (peach fusion) for a little shine on the center of my lips. Making them appear full as if I need that.

I am so appreciative of +JamaicanMakeUpArtist for sharing her gift and for having +Buntricia Bastian on her channel. My makeup application has improved so much.

Check out +Buntricia Bastian and +JamaicanMakeUpArtist videos below as well as my videos below on how I applied those tips to my makeup application. Always remember I am not trying to become an MUA for anyone other than myself.
