Iman Cream to Powder Foundation | Practice Session | Becoming MY OWN MUA

I have been eying this foundation for a while now....

Now that I am a little bit more experienced in putting on my make up.

I wanted to step up my skill level and test the knowledge that I have gained in the recent months about makeup. I have watched reviews, walked by, and even tested a few of the products and still did not purchase it. Until today, I said why not try it.

IMAN

Second to None
Cream to Powder
Foundation
(Earth 4)
$12.68 @ WalMart

Upon initial opening of the package there is instructions which is always helpful to beginners like myself, the compact which includes an nice mirror and a sponge which is in a plastic bag. Which I loved keeps everything sterile.

As you can see above the packaging is sleek, simple, and well constructed. Along the lines of what you will see with high end makeup brands such as MAC.

I did a quick swatch of the cream to powder foundation (Earth 4). All I have to say is that it feels like  Butta'. I blended it into my hand and it disappeared right into my skin. It feels so light weight on the simple swatch that I did. The undertones seemed warmer than other drug store foundations that I have used in the past.

Now on to the Practice Session.

(Remember I do not do tutorials)

Attempt #1

As always I start with a freshly washed and moisturized face. Next I place Rimmel's Stay Matte Primer, which is an awesome product.  Then I did my eye makeup which I must say wasn't bad at all.

Now as for the face....what a tragic beginner's mess I made.

As you can see my face and neck are two different colors. My facial expression says it all.."what in the hell did I do".  The first mistake I made was using a primer when testing out a new foundation. In order to see what the foundation can do I should have left out the primer.

Which left a white cast on my skin, the second rookie mistake was that I put more powder products on top of my face. I know, I know  its the recipe for cake face, I was excited to use the product and went face first into powder face without even realizing it.

Third rookie mistake is that I did not do my research on how to apply a cream to powder foundation. Which lead to me not to buff the product into my skin continuing my path down the road of cake face.

The last rookie mistake that I made was using more powder to set my face. What a fool I am to do that, this caused that cake face to front and center. The funny thing is when I was doing my face I kept saying it looks off but I kept on going.

I was so mad at myself making those huge rookie mistakes. As you can see from the picture above the look isn't bad in a photo. However, in person i had a white cast and powder face. No bueno. Thankful this was a practice session and not me actually having to leave the house like that.

Attempt #2

(Remember I do not do tutorials)

Now that I have licked my wounds and did some research I am ready to come back and slay this practice session.

Based off of the first attempt, I know not to put on any of the Rimmel's stay matte primer since it will leave a white cast on my face. I only moisturize my face with L'Oreal Ideal Moisture day lotion since it has a pink undertone and absorbs into my skin with out an oily residue left behind.

Since I am using a cream to powder foundation I will wait until the moisturizer is absorbed before applying any makeup to my face.

Now with this picture you can see that I applied what I learned from the previous session. With Iman's Second to None Cream to Powder Foundation you will need to use primers and moisturizers with a pink undertone. Secondly, you must blend the product into your skin I used E.L.F. Studio flat top foundation brush to blend it into my skin. Although, it is recommended to use a makeup sponge, I find it difficult to blend the product in with just a sponge.

As you can see my color is more even, there is no ghostly white cast, and most importantly I do not look like a damn cake/powder faced fool. I made sure not to use the Rimmel Stay Matte primer, I buffed the product into my face, and instead of applying my highlight on top of the foundation.  For my highlight I used L.A.Girls ProConceal(fawn) and set it with L.A.Colors Mineral Powder (ebony. What a difference in my face, a more natural finish.

My Final Thoughts

Iman's Second to None Cream to Powder Foundation  is awesome for someone like me who likes a more natural finish to my face.  You do not feel as though you have anything on your face. Easy to buff in the skin and lovely second skin finish.

However, you need to learn Iman's color chart so you can know the correct color to chose for yourself. I did the worst thing and guessed my color. I do not suggest you do that, go to Iman's website and see what they advise for your skin tone. Do not use any primers that leave a white cast to your face, because it will show through. Flat top makeup brush is better to use than a sponge.

Most importantly, its only makeup and if you are ugly on the inside no amounts of makeup can hide it.

Stay Blessed
