Quick Prodcut Review ALMAY Smart Shade concealer and brightener | Becomming My Own MUA

On a recent shopping trip I came across this product Almay Smart Shade concealer and brightener at Big Lots. Yes, I said Big Lots I purchased it for $2.60.

An awesome deal since the average cost of Almay starts at $5-6. The reason I purchased this product is to help me with color correction. If you are following +Destiny Godley or +Jackie Aina you know that they are big on color correcting and the difference that makes when you apply your foundation.

So then came the time to try it out, as you can
see it by the swatches they are a bit light for my skin tone. I thought the orange side would have been a bit deeper. and the pink side looks to bright, but none the less I would try to it out any way.

On my first attempt I only used the Almay concealer and mineral powder to set I only wanted to get a feel of the product on my skin. The concealer is real creamy and I would suggest to moisturize and prime your skin to allow for a smoother application. It may look ok in this photo however, my face is lighter than my neck and body. No bueno, but the finish is gorgeous.

Now for attempt two I did moisturize and prime my face as you can see by the glow. I do have mustache, acne scars and blemishes that I always conceal when I am wearing make up. Based on the trial and error on my first attempt I mixed the Almay concealer with L.A. Girls Pro Conceal(chestnut) because it has an orange undertone and I felt it would help offset the Almay concealer.

I only used the Almay concealer under my eye to help wake my face up. Right below that I placed the L.A. Girl Pro Conceal and blended with an E.L.F. concealer brush and Viola! That Almay concealer is creamy however, it blends like a dream.  I proceeded in doing the rest of my makeup and taking notes on how the product reacts to my skin.

Under flash photo you can see where the Almay product sits under my eye it probably has an SPF in it, but it doesn't look so bad that I look like a clown.

This photo was taken in full sun light and WOW. Smooth finish I can not see any harsh lines or the concealer sitting under the eye. Everything appears to be one smooth color.  Not to bad for a beginner at this color correction thing.  One note I used to the orange side of the Almay concealer with these attempts. Next time I will try using the pink/salmon color mixed with Dark Cocoa from L.A. Girls Pro Conceal and see what happens.

PROS: Great product for under eye concealer, creamy and mixes well with other products. Brightening the under eye with out creasing or moving around when using other products on top.

CONS:  Medium is the darkest shade that the Almay concealer comes in and if you are deeper than my skin tone it will not work for you. In flash photography you will see the concealer under the eye.

If you have tried Almay's concealer and brightener let me know in the comments section.

Stay Blessed
