Sultry Summer Eyes | Improving Color Correction | Becomming My Own MUA

I want to do more than apply makeup to my face, I want to learn how to Beat My Face to the Gwads honey. A part of that is learning as much as you can about technique and a part of that is color correction.

Now color correction to a beginner is a very daunting because you are just learning which foundation matches and how to apply eyeshadow with out you looking like a hot mess. So now its time to step it up and achieve that second skin finish that we all want. What I have found to be key in that is knowing your skin's undertone. Everyone undertone is different and you can have several shades especially if you have hyper pigmentation on your face.

As for me I know a concealer with an orange/salmon color to it gives me a great finish to my makeup looks while anything with an yellow undertone looks like a mask. It's all about trial and error guys and getting friendly with your local drug store cosmetics manager or beauty supply store employee. Since these are the places that you can find inexpensive concealers to experiment with.

As you can see by my before   photo I do have acne scares, enlarged pores, and a mustache all things that I want to blur/erase when I put on makeup. After "beginner" style color correction, you can see that my skin tone is even and all the issues that were visible before are blurred out or erased. This allows me to play with my highlight and contour so I can change my face shape. Color correction also saves on your foundation. So when you are using high end foundation you can use a little less.

Think about all the celebrities you see hit the red carpet or magazine ads, they do not have that cake face look and drama is brought through the eyes, lips, and play on light and shadows on the face.

Following up on that theory of drama is brought through the eyes. I decided to experiment with bold colors and a more dramatic smokey eye. Well, dramatic to a beginner here are some of the looks that I was able to do after I completed the color correction.

As always you can buy Prada, YSL. and Tom Ford but if you do not know how to properly apply that makeup you will look like a high end fool.
