Winter Blues |Beauty Blogger Inspried Makeup Looks (@DestinyGodley Smokey Blues Eye Look)| Becoming my Own MUA

When I first joined YouTube I wasn't a subscriber, however I still watched her videos when she posted them. I have learned so much about makeup and enjoyed  watching her journey through life I wanted to start my Winter Makeup Looks (Beauty Blogger) inspired with +Destiny Godley .

To me she is a master at explaining color correction and explaining eyeshadow applications and blending techniques. So when I saw that beautiful chocolate sister post a video with her using blue eye shadows to create a smokey eye look. I said here she goes again rocking it hard for us chocolate sisters. So I gave it a try, remember this is an inspired look I did not use the same makeup products, tools or techniques that she used. I only wanted to see if my beginners hand and novice knowledge at makeup application could attain something close to her look.

As you see in the photo to the right I managed not to look like someone has punched me in the eye. Which is usually the result when I try to do a smokey eye. The mistake I was making was not using the proper application techniques to create a smokey eye that is suitable for my eye shape.

How I created this inspired look, first I used L.A. Girls Pro Conceal (Fawn)
for my brow bone highlight. I blended the product right out onto my eyelids to mute out any color and as a primer for my eyeshadow look. For a eyeshadow base I used a Black Radiance cream eyeshadow
            *indigo

(indigo) lightly on my lid and making sure to blend out all of the harsh edges with a clean blending brush.  Something that I did not do before.

Next I used a matte brown that is close my complexion from my Kiss New York Nude Seduction palette as my transition color.

For my lid color I used L'Oreal quad eyeshadow (blackened smokes). For the inner third of
my eyelid I used #3 in the quad, on the next two thirds of my eyelid I used a iridescent indigo blue from WetnWild (lust) eyeshadow palette, and the outer 'V' I went back to L'Oreal quad and used the black since it had specks of sliver glitter in it. Making sure to blend my eye shadows so I do not look like I have a black eye. After applying the eyeshadow my eyes still did not pop. So I warmed up my crease a little using NYX (cinnamon) blush and that did the trick. It gave my eyes that dimension that I wanted.  For my brow bone highlight powder I used  a peach eyeshadow in Black Radiance (urban identity) trio palette. I chose that color because of its cool tone it matches the icy blue of my lid which is the focus of this look.

For eyeliner I used a Physician's Formula (black) kohl eye pencil to tight line my upper lids and in my water line. I used Milani's Bella eyeshadow (bella navy) on my lower lash line. Now as we all know I do not wear false lashes, so I piled on lengthening mascara from Black Radiance to my top and bottom lashes.

As for my face Black Radiance BB Cream (brown sugar), L.A. Girls Proconceal (fawn) highlight. I set my entire face with an a blend of L.A. Colors pressed mineral powder (ebony& mocha), NYX blush (cinnamon). Contouring I used Ruby Kisses pressed mineral powder (ebony) making sure to constantly blend. I do not want to look like a painted fool. For my lips I used a Jordana matte lipstick (cafe).

As I stated above this is an inspired look not an exact dupe of Destiny's work. Check out her video here on the correct makeup and techniques used to for her look.

Then beginners you can see how I attempted to do an inspired look. Always remember I am a beginner at this makeup game. So all I will ever do is show you what beginners can accomplish if they were to try.

No matter the cost of the makeup, if you do not know how to put the makeup on you will still look like a painted fool.

Stay Blessed
